Corten / Weathering Steel Architectural Panel Fabrication Geelong

February 8, 2017

Corten / Weathering Steel / Weather Resistant Steel has becoming increasingly popular over the last 10 years in Australia for architectural facades on commercial buildings, bridges, decorative sound barriers on freeways and modern / contemporary architectural homes.

True Blue Roofing are now able to fabricate our own Corten / Weathering steel Architectural panel systems such as: Interlocking, Standing Seam, Flat Lock and Cassette panel all in our own Geelong based factory.  These panel systems originated in Europe and have been used for over 200 years.  Architectural panel systems can be used in either roofing or wall cladding applications.

We are able to provide our clients with a BlueScope product which have enhanced weather resistance when compared to traditional steels. They are widely recognised for their distinctive “patina” which results from protective oxidation on the surface and develops over time during exposure to the atmosphere.

A complex protective oxide layer forms on the steels surface with is the ‘patina’. It is this oxide layer that gives the steel its unique appearance as well as contributing to this material’s enhanced weather resistance capabilities compared to standard steels.  If the protective oxide layer is damaged, the process of oxidation  may recommence in that area until the protective layer is reformed essentially ‘healing itself’.

This material can provide advantages such as an improved service life, corrosion performance and cost efficient in terms of a cladding option. True Blue Roofing have been servicing Geelong, The Bellarine, The Surf Coast, The Great Ocean Road and Melbourne for over 11 years  in all aspects of metal roofing and wall cladding.  If you have an upcoming project that you need to source architectural cladding for in Melbourne or Geelong, contact us today to discuss.
